Assistant Principal P-6 Newsletter

Welcome, new families to our amazing College, we hope that you have had an amazing start to the term. If at any time you need assistance with something please do not hesitate to ask, our community members are wonderful at assisting each other.

Primary School Assemblies

On Friday the 3rd of August at 2 pm we will be conducting our first Primary School Assembly. The Primary Captains and I have been working hard to ensure that the assembly process runs smoothly. We would like to offer a warm welcome to our Primary community members to attend.

The assemblies will run fortnightly, in every odd week of term 3. The first assembly will be run in the gymnasium, after the assembly parents will have the opportunity to join their child/ren in their homerooms, to spend time with them, learning about what they have been learning in class.

As this will be our first assembly please be patient with us as there may be a few teething issues, as we learn how to become more efficient in our processes, but we hope that this continues to build on our community partnership.

We are Learners

Thank you to the students for the amazing start to the term, your energy and dedication to your learning has been fantastic to see, well done to you all. I strongly encourage you to keep up this amazing effort!

Our teachers are also demonstrating high levels of learning and will be participating this Friday in the next day of our Berry Street Education Model training. The focus of this day is on relationships, we know that the teachers greatly appreciate the opportunity to be able to spend the day together learning about relevant and practical strategies to implement in their daily practice.

We are Respectful

Thank you to all the students who wear their College uniform daily. It demonstrates a high level of respect and is greatly appreciated. The main breach of the uniform policy by our Primary students is wearing incorrect socks. Please ensure that students come to school in the correct colour socks, older students, in particular, are continuing to breach this part of the policy by opting to wear white socks with images printed on them or generally speaking black socks. Please refer to the College website where you will find the acceptable attire combinations.

We are Responsible

Thank you to our year 1-4 students and teachers who are supporting the Music Bus program by being responsible and getting themselves to their music lessons on time. I know that the Music Bus teachers have commented on what a fantastic start to the program it has been. Keep up the great work and continue to demonstrate our expected behaviours as the program continues throughout the remainder of the year.

We are Safe

Unfortunately, it has come to my attention that they are students who like to purchase goods from the local 7 eleven before and after school. This is not something that as a College we encourage, it has been disappointing to see students running through the carparks and generally not considering their own safety when travelling to and from the shop. If you do pick your child up from the community oval carpark or 7eleven, we strongly urge you to have a conversation with your child about how to safely get to you at the end of the day.

The College Disco

The College Disco will take place on Thursday, August 2nd and I for one am definitely looking forward to an afternoon of fun! I hope to see as many primary students there as possible.

Kind Regards
