Parent Teacher Interviews

Extra-Curricular Activities Calendar

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all returning as well as new families to Point Cook College. Term Two is traditionally a very long; cold term as well as an extremely busy Teaching, Learning and Reporting Term. We anticipate that the journey ahead will be filled with many exciting adventures and we know that lots of teaching and learning will take place. Please see this newsletter for snapshots of what your child will be covering in the curriculum this term.

Term Two is a winter term, but we are starting with some very warm days. Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct combination of our school uniform as we have a very strict uniform policy. We thank you in advance for help in this regard.

Please see the Whole College News and Events column for more information about the NAPLAN Testing Program, so as you get all the information you need. As the Assistant Principal of Teaching and Learning in Prep to Four, I would like to send out a heartfelt plea to all of our parents and guardians of students in Year Three. This is the first year your child will be doing the Naplan Testing and it can be an extremely stressful time for your child. They may be filled with all sorts of anxieties and this can be made much worse with extra pressures from home. I urge you to discuss with your child that this is a test to assess what they know. There will some things they can do and some things they may find difficult and that is fine. Stress that all you expect of them is to try their best and to try to the best of their ability to answer all questions. I have asked the Year Three teachers to have similar conversations during class time about these aspects as well. Again, thank you for your help in this regard.

Last night we held our Parent Teacher Interviews for all students in Years One to Nine. It was a wonderful opportunity for many parents to meet their child’s teacher for the teachers to get to know their student’s parents. I would like to say a very big thank you to all parents who came in for these meetings. All teachers have been asked to make contact with parents, who did not attend, to see if they could make time for a meeting either in person or on the phone.

The Extra-Curricular Activities Calendar will be on each newsletter. We update this calendar whenever new activities are planned, so please make sure you read it to be aware of what is happening around the college. Where possible we include approximate prices of excursions, camps etc. to assist parents with future planning.
