Family Outdoor Movie Night

Save the date for our first family outdoor movie night! It will be held on Thursday the 20th of September from 5pm.

Students are currently providing movie suggestions which will be shortlisted and then we will hold a vote in classrooms and on Facebook. The movie with the most votes will be screened on the night!

We will be selling fairy floss and popcorn and have a variety of food trucks available too. Tickets will be $5 for adults and $2 for children. Details about how to buy tickets will be available soon.

Football theme Casual Dress Day

We will hold our annual casual dress day to support State School Relief on Friday the 21st of September which is the last day of this term. Students are asked to bring a gold coin donation on the day. It is an AFL football theme but team colours or items of clothing from other codes or sports are also welcome.

Entertainment Book

Thank you to the families who purchased an Entertainment Book Membership. We raised $1748 from this fundraiser! If you do not wish to purchase your book please return it to the office ASAP.

Thank you for your support!

Father’s Day Stall

Our Father’s Day Stall will be open on Wednesday the 29th and Thursday the 30th of August. Students from Prep- Year 6 will visit the stall with their teacher on one of the days. Secondary students can visit at a time that suits their teacher.

Items will range in price from $1-$5. Most items are $3 and over. Students need to bring their money in an envelope, wallet or purse which has their name on it. They also need to bring their own shopping bag.

The PFA are looking for parents or grandparents who are available to help on the stall. Please note that you must have a valid Working with Children’s Check. If you can help, please emailpfa@pcc.vic.edu.au

The Indigenous Literacy Foundation Great Book Swap

On Tuesday September 4th and Wednesday September 5th,  Point Cook College will once again be holding The Great Book Swap to raise much needed funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

Last year we raised just over $350.00, and this year we are hoping to raise $500.00 to donate.

Students are asked to bring in a favourite book (or two), during the week beginning Monday 27th of August to donate to the swap.

They will then be able to buy another person’s favourite book on the swap day, for only $1.00.

Parents, friends and families can also make donations through the school link: https://go.greatbookswap.org.au/EventDetail/7011J000000g3RVQAY/point-cook-p-9-college-great-book-swap

Remember donations above $2.00 are tax deductable.

Get ready to bring, swap and read!

The Active Travel Program is having a break in Term 3

You may have noticed that teachers and students have not been braving the cold on Wednesday mornings lately. That is because like all sensible people (not penguins), we have deemed it too cold to be standing outside at the moment!

So… Walk and Wheel Wednesdays will be taking an official break until term 4.

We may call a surprise “Walk and Wheel Wednesday” later this term.

Stay tuned and keep riding, walking and wheeling! Please stay safe and make sure that you wear a helmet if you are riding a bike, scooter or skateboard.

Community Gardening Group.

Hi all,

Our fortnightly gardening session in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden is on again. They will be on even weeks this term. The next session will be on Wednesday the 22nd August at 9am. This session we will be looking at the tree guards around plants in the school ground and deciding on whether they need to be removed or installed to help the plants.

You don’t need to know anything about gardening to come along, this is a chance for you to make new friends and build community relationships. You do however require a working with children’s check, which is free for volunteers and easily applied for online.

This program will continue to run fortnightly on Wednesday mornings from 9-10am.

Please let me know via email if you are interested.  My email is:

 sarahmoore@pcc.vic.edu.au

Thanks and I look forward to meeting you all.
