Point Cook College P-9 as worked hard to become a three star accredited ResourceSmart School since opening in 2010. The College embeds Sustainability Education into the curriculum to improve awareness and take action in the areas of Energy, Biodiversity, Waste and Water.

Point Cook College are proud of recognised achievements in Sustainability Education as a ResourceSmart school including;

  1. Energy Smart school of the year 2011
  2. Finalist – Biodiversity Smart school of the year 2011
  3. Finalist – Student Action team of the year 2016

Through our ethos and values, Point Cook P-9 College empowers our community with knowledge for a positive, present and sustainable future. We are committed as a college to creating awareness of environmental issues that the world faces- offering opportunities to make a difference at local, national and global levels. As a College we are accountable for implementing, evaluating and improving our sustainability practices.

Students at Point Cook College P-9 are actively involved in selected annual sustainability awareness days and undertake learning opportunities relevant to these days.

Students across year levels have opportunities to be involved in sustainability projects, partnerships conferences and events so they can help make a difference towards a positive future for our planet.

Point Cook P-9 College offers environmental enrichment in outdoor learning spaces such as our onsite wetland and Stephanie Alexander Kitchen food garden. Environmental Science is taught as a Specialist and STEM subject throughout the primary years from Year 1 to Year 6.

Point Cook P-9 College offers student environmental leadership teams; A junior Green Gang – Year 1 and 2, a year 3-6 Green Gang and a Senior Environmental Leaders team.

Sustainability education at Point Cook P-9 College aims to ensure strong learning connections are made with local Sustainability Service Providers and we pride ourselves at building strong community partnerships with these organisations.
