Principal Welcome

Dear parents and carers,

As we begin another school year, I wanted to take a moment to welcome our new families to PCC and welcome back our families.

First, I would like to share with you all some key changes in our Leadership Team for 2023.  Once I was appointed to the Principal position at the end of the year I was able to create a new team to work with me to continue making PCC an amazing school within the community.  I would like to share with your our new Principal team:

As a team we are committed to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students. Our staff have been working hard over the summer to ensure that the school is ready for the new year, and our students have access to quality teaching and learning.

We re-establish our Wellbeing team with highly skilled staff. I would like to introduce you the Team which will be led by Gillian:

In addition to the Principal and Wellbeing Teams, we have a strong leadership team across both Prep – Year 4 and Year 5 – 9 led by their Sub-School Principals; Jenni Gigas and Nicole Peters:

We will continue to have a strong focus on building our students social and emotional Wellbeing, so students can build on the work we have already started with The Resilience Project in 2023.

Additionally, we have several events and programs planned for the year that I would like to highlight. This Year PCC will be celebrating its 100th Birthday! We will be asking families to join a committee to help us organise this event later in the year. We have our first Japanese study tour taking place in October, our first Basketball training camp in December, along with the extension of our HAP and ADP programs.

This year we have four parent vacancies for school council.  Three positions will be for a 2 Year Tenure and 1 vacancy for a year.  More information about the nomination process can be found on the website front page. As a school, we will also be running Sub Committee’s including Finance, Education and Community Relations. Terms of reference and an explanation of each Sub Committee will be sent to families via Compass next week.

Can I remind all our families to refer to the college webpage to view all our policies.  We are regularly updating our policies and adding new ones as the need arises. The PCC Bulletin will be continued again in 2023 with a minor change seeing it published fortnightly starting from Week 2. The Bulletin will provide general information about the college, exciting things happening for our students and what is coming up for the college. In addition to the bulletin, a cohort newsletter will be distributed twice termly which will focus on the teaching and learning that is happening in each grade.

Finally, I would like to emphasise the importance of communication and partnership between home and school. Our teachers are always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have, and we encourage you to stay involved in your child's education through checking Compass regularly, attending parent-teacher conferences, volunteering, and participating in school events. We are working hard this year to rebuild our connections with families and welcome them back into the college.

I look forward to a successful and exciting school year.

Sincerely,

Tracy Peters
College Principal
