PCC Bulletin - Term 1, Week 7

Curriculum Contributions
Thank you to our parents and carers who have already paid the Curriculum Contributions for 2022. Your generosity will enable us to further provide resourcing for our programs across our college. Please contact the office if you still require clarification on our College Contributions and Levies payments.

Working together at PCC
As we continue to curb the spread of COVID-19, including required mask wearing for 3-6 students, we are very grateful to our community members for their understanding, cooperation and support, to ensure that we are working together to keep everyone safe, healthy, well, and learning onsite inside classrooms as it should be.

We are still continuing with precautionary RAT Testing until the end of this term. Families and our staff are being asked to do the RATs at home twice a week on Monday and either Wednesday/Thursday of each week.

Thank you to all our families for their continued support, understanding and management at home of this important routine.

Please share with us:
If there are any sporting and/or community achievements of students that we may not be aware of, we’d love to celebrate and acknowledge them. We ask parents and/or students to email these achievements, with photos if you are happy to share with our community to: point.cook.p9.co@education.vic.gov.au with the subject line: ‘newsletter item’.

Sun Smart
Please remember we are a Sun Smart School and all of our primary students need to wear a hat which protects the face, back of the neck, eyes and ears, these can include:
  • broad-brimmed hat
  • legionnaire hat
  • bucket hat.

It is also important to make sure that your child is wearing sunscreen on high UV days and supply them with their own sunscreen in their bag so they can re-apply (all students need to be able to apply their own sunscreen) before they go outside at recess or lunchtime. Teachers will remind students to apply sunscreen before going outdoors through reminder notices, sunscreen monitors and sunscreen buddies.

Continuous Reporting
Continuous Reports are now open for them to view their child/ren’s learning goals. Please contact the college office if you are having any difficulties accessing these reports.

This year, all Year 3, 5, 7 & 9 students will be required to use their devices and a set of headphones/earbuds for NAPLAN in 2022.

If your child is in Year 5, please make sure he/she/they have the NAP lockdown browser downloaded on their device and a set of headphones/earbuds for the online coordinated practice test on Thursday 24th March 2022 (all other year levels will not require this to be installed until the beginning of MAY just before the two week window of NAPLAN from May 10th to May 20th). A guide on downloading and installing the NAP lockdown browser for various devices and operating systems can be found here

If your child is not able to use their device or will not have access to a device or headphones, please send an email to help@pcc.vic.edu.au.

If you have any questions or concerns about this request please contact help@pcc.vic.edu.au.

If your child is placing a lunch order at school, please remember to write the students full name and correct classroom number on the lunch order.

This week our Year 8 Students participated in the Summer Inter-School sports competitions. Our Volleyball teams and Tennis teams all came 3rd! All students represented the school fantastically and we are proud of their efforts. A special congratulations to Pranac who took a hat trick during one of their cricket matches.

YMCA Weekly Wrap
This week has been a short week due to the Public Holiday on Monday 14th March 2022, but that hasn’t stopped us from having a busy program this week.

We have seen an increased interest in children wanting to play dodgeball mainly in our after school care program and still a heavy interest in serving afternoon tea from both the younger children and older children.

Children have enjoyed playing sports, doing arts and craft activities and hanging out with their friends. Children are showing a great interest in pretend / imaginative play, children are creating play with our costumes / kitchen toys and more.

If you’re interested in booking your child into our before or after school care programs, please visit https://childrensprograms.ymca.org.au/before-after-school-programs/point-cook-college.
