Prep - 2 Swimming
Congratulations to all of our Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students who have just completed a week of swimming lessons at Aqua Pulse. All students loved every minute of it, this included the bus ride to and from the pool, the actual swimming lessons and developing their independence by learning how to change in and out of their bathers and clothes.
Tournament of the Minds
On Saturday, two teams from PCC competed at the Tournament of Minds. Both the 5/6 and Year 7 team did a fantastic job, where their preparation and creativity paid off. They have made the school very proud!
Jewish Holocaust Museum
On Tuesday, 23rd August, our Year 9 “Heroes of the Holocaust” elective students visited the Holocaust Museum at the Jewish Holocaust Centre.
At the centre, they learned about the discrimination, propaganda, dehumanization and resistance surrounding the Holocaust. Our students examined artefacts from antisemitic propaganda during the Holocaust to food ration cards from the Jewish Ghettos.
At the end of the excursion, our students met with Mr Abram Goldberg, who survived the Holocaust after being sent to the Auschwitz extermination camp with his mother. Mr Goldberg lost his whole family to the Holocaust.
For Agnes Andrews from 9B, a major take away for her from Mr Goldberg’s speech is that we are all the same. Regardless of what we believe in or how we look, all of us belong to one race, the Human Race.
Reflecting on the excursion, Maya ElBob from 9B said that having learned about the Holocaust, she is “thankful for being here”. The lessons from the excursion strengthened her sense of gratitude.
Ms Lyndsay Lewis and Mr Zul Shariff accompanied our students to the excursion.
