Term 3 is nearing the end and we have already managed to jam pack so many events into the term. This week our 3/4 students participated in their very first school camp. I think we had more tears from the parents as they sent their students off than the students. They all had the most amazing time and made many memories.
Some of our 7-9 Students participated in the District Athletics carnival on Wednesday. We had a number of students who made it through to the next step. Congratulations to all who attended.
We are excited to welcome the following new staff members:
Hi, my name is Michael Lewis & I’m excited to join the Point Cook P-9 school community after recently relocating to my dream destination of Melbourne in 5/6F. I am originally from Hay in NSW and lived there for 22 years before moving to Brisbane to study my undergraduate degree at the Queensland University of Technology. Before my relocation to Melbourne, I taught in several locations over 7.5 years in mostly indigenous communities. Teaching has given me amazing opportunities such as meeting my husband and seeing much of QLD. I have a passion for lifelong education which has subsequently led me to complete a masters at UniMelb. I am avid Carlton supporter and wait to embed myself in your community and everything footy!
The Colour Run is fast approaching and we have already raised over $5400!! Below is our fundraising leaderboard! The top fundraiser will receive a major prize.. I wonder who will be on top of the leaderboard next week!
At the end of the term parents can expect curriculum newsletters to be shared with families from each learning Cohort including Prep, 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7, 8 & 9. Keep an eye out on Compass for a notification! These will also be shared in the Weekly Bulletin and on our cohort newsletters page on the College Website!

Last Day of Term - Early Finish
Friday 16th September is the last day of Term and is creeping up on us! As always, we will be finishing early at 2:30pm. We are unable to accommodate late pickups so please ensure you have arranged for your child to be picked up at this time from their classroom.
We have had a significant reduction in positive COVID cases across our community however with it still being prevalent within Victoria, we ask that any families who have a positive case in the household contact the school to let us know if a student is a household contact.
It is also extremely important that any Point Cook P-9 College students who test positive are reported to the College via phone: 03 8348 7100 to assist us in reducing any spread. The Department of Education are continuing to supply Rapid Antigen Tests to Victorian Schools. RATs will be distributed next week and sent home with students. We ask that if your child presents with any symptoms that you are testing them regularly and keeping them home while feeling unwell.
Professional Practice Day
Our Professional Practice Day is being held this coming Monday, the 5th September. Please ensure you have made alternate arrangements for your child on this day. Check out the below flyer for more information:
RED DAY Fundraiser
On Tuesday 13th September, Point Cook P-9 College will be holding 'Red Day' in support of Great Strides Day as we as a community have students at PCC who have Cystic Fibrosis along with staff members who have directly been impacted by Cystic Fibrosis within their families.
Students are encouraged to wear red from head to toe and bring a gold coin to donate towards this cause. PCC staff members Danielle Mather, Kharlie Bellegante and Robyn Fincher will all be participating in the 5km fundraising fun run event to raise awareness and funding to help provide support services for people living with cystic fibrosis.

SAKG Potato & Leek Soup
This week in the SAKG kitchen, the Alcott students have been extremely busy cooking a Potato and Leek Soup together with a full flavoured Focaccia Bread layered with many different herbs freshly picked from the garden and a roasted Pumpkin and Carrot Dip.
Each class had the opportunity to harvest our fresh vegetables during their garden session, then we got creative in the kitchen to cook these very healthy and sustainable meals, which everyone got to enjoy at the end of our cooking session.
The Focaccia Bread was definitely the most loved dish of the week.
Year 3/4 Camp
The Year 3/4 students have had a fantastic experience at the Lady Northcote camp this week for their first overnight school excursion! There were plenty of activities the students got involved in including Canoeing, the Giant Swing, Mountain Biking, Low Ropes Course, Flying Fox, Raft Building, Archery and Geocaching. The students bonded over these experiences and created and developed positive relationships with their peers! The students had an absolute ball!!
