How to submit an Absence Note in the Compass App

Absence

The preferred method of notifying the school of your child’s absence is by using Compass. All parents have access to the Compass parent portal where you can add an attendance note regarding your child’s absence. If you have not received your login details or have forgotten your login details please contact the school reception on 03 8348 7100.

Late Arrivals:

School commences at 8.30am and finishes at 3:00pm.The Morning Roll is marked from 8:30 to 8:40am.

Students arriving at school after 8:40am are regarded as ‘not present’ until they report to the Office and get signed in late. Students must provide a reason for their late arrival and should present any supporting documentation. Parents will receive an email or phone call to approve the late arrival.

Early Leavers

If a student needs to leave the college early the parents/guardians are required to come to the office to sign their child out and wait while staff arrange for their child to come to reception.  If they are leaving for a pre-arranged appointment parents/guardians should make both the teacher and office aware of the departure time in advance.

As the College works on a split timetable, it is important to pick your child up before or after any breaks.  Alternatively, let the office know the time you will be picking your child up and arrangements can be made to have them at the office waiting for you.

When collecting your child at College reception, ID is required.

For student safety reasons, the College is only able to release students to a parent/guardian or emergency contact.  Emergency contacts will need to supply ID before they can collect the child.  It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to keep the emergency contact list up to date.

Students can only be collected from the front office.

Medical Certificates

If your child is absent due to illness or medical reasons a medical certificate is required and must be submitted to the Attendance Officer.

The reason for this is an absence covered by a medical certificate is a Department approved absence which does not affect their attendance percentage. If a medical certificate is not supplied the absence is NOT a department approved absence and does affect student attendance percentage.
